Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Book Summary

The Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir, beware.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets follows Harry’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, during which a series of messages found on the walls of the school’s corridors warn that the “Chamber of Secrets” has been opened and that the “heir of Slytherin” will kill all students coming from muggle families. In the meantime, several Muggle-born students were found turned to stone in the corridors of the school.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets begins when Harry is spending a miserable summer with his only remaining family, the Dursleys. Dobby warns that Harry is in danger and must not return to Hogwarts. As Harry refuses, Dobby magically ruins Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon’s dinner party. In retaliation, Uncle Vernon locks Harry in his room. Luckily, Harry’s friend Ron Weasley rescues Harry from the Dursleys in a flying car.
